Decorating Your Dorm on a College Budget

Living in a dorm is something I don’t talk about much because if I’m being honest, it isn’t my favorite thing. One thing it has taught me though, is how make the best out of a situation even if you don’t love it. My way of making the best of it, was to decorate it and make it my own as much as possible (which can be challenging when living with 3 roommates).

tips for getting the deal

  1. Amazon! Amazon makes it so easy to compare prices of similar items along with ratings and reviews to make sure you get what you want for the best deal!

  2. Shop sales! My wall art is from Hobby Lobby and anyone who shops at Hobby Lobby knows they always have sales (especially in store) both of these signs I got 50% off because they were having a sale on framed wall art! (unfortunately my exact signs are not available online, I linked similar options, but my advice is to check your local store!) And the The Snuggle is Real and Hello Gorgeous pillows i got from the dollar section at Target.

  3. Get creative! My “rug” is actually a towel that I got at Forever 21 on Black Friday and decided to use as a rug because as you probably know rugs can get very expensive.

Many of these items are sold out or not currently available so I linked similar options. All of the pillows are from Target but aren’t available online so check your local store! (the click link will just take you to the target throw pillows).

Tips to get the deal

  1. To be 100% honest, most of the things listed below I got from target, and many of them I got at various sales or received as gifts at my going away party. As you may already know, Target is one of my favorite places to shop because they have just about everything and their prices are good and they always have sales!

  2. I got my keurig on major sale at target because sandy pearl in the k200 series was being discontinued, but best buy still carries it and most stores carry k200 in other colors. I hope that helps!

  3. Getting creative again, the beanbag chair I got is actually from a kids brand because all of the kids brands were cheaper!

  4. The 11x14 canvas print of me and Jon from Snapfish while they were on sale and they are great quality. I’ve ordered 3 from them and love them all!

The table that attaches to the bed is currently unavailable but it’s from target and I’m sure they will have them again in the fall along with the small canvases above my keurig. My geometric lamp by my keurig is also from target but currently unavailable online.

I hope this was helpful! I know a lot of stuff is out of stock but I hope it gave you some ideas for how to have a cute dorm space and still save some money!
